Ready for US shelves

US labelling and private label shawls

Textile products sold in the US must be labelled under the FTC's Textile and Wool Acts with fibre content by generic name and percentage, the country of origin ("Made in India"), and the name or RN number of the US company responsible for the product. "Pashmina" is not a recognised FTC fibre name, so labels must state the actual fibre, such as cashmere, wool or silk, by percentage.

If you sell under your own brand, we produce private label shawls, stoles and scarves with your woven labels, RN number, swing tags, UPC barcodes and packaging. Every detail is confirmed on an approved sample before bulk production starts.

Manufacturer, not a middleman

Why US importers buy direct from Savita Shawls

US tariffs on Indian goods have changed several times since 2025, which puts pressure on landed cost. Buying from the manufacturer removes the importer and wholesaler margins, which usually cost more than the tariff itself.

1

Manufacturer pricing

We produce on our own floor in Gurgaon, with no US distributor margin in your price.

2

FTC-compliant labels

Fibre content, country of origin and your RN number added before shipping, so goods are shelf-ready.

3

Low MOQ to test

25 pieces on most ready styles, so boutiques and online sellers can test before scaling up.

4

Clean export paperwork

Commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin prepared for your US customs broker.

5

Since 1984

Four decades of shawl making. Read about the company or the company profile.

6

Verifiable registration

US buyer FAQs

Questions from shawl buyers in the USA

Who are the best shawl manufacturers for US buyers?

Most shawls and scarves sold in US boutiques and gift shops are made in India or China and bought through US importers. Buying direct from an Indian manufacturer such as Savita Shawls removes the importer's margin and gives you control over fibre, colour and labelling. Check that any supplier has a valid IEC and GST number before you order.

Do you have a warehouse or office in the USA?

No. We manufacture in Gurgaon, India and export to the US. Our address is Savita Fashions LLP, 1st Floor, Plot No 42, Sector 18, Gurgaon 122015, Haryana, India.

What import duty applies to Indian shawls in the US?

Shawls and scarves fall under HTS heading 6214. US buyers pay the standard duty rate for the exact HTS code, plus an additional 10% tariff that has applied to most Indian goods since 24 July 2026. US tariffs have changed several times since 2025, so confirm the current total with your customs broker before you order.

Are small shipments and samples still duty-free in the US?

No. The US ended duty-free de minimis treatment for low-value imports in August 2025, so samples and small courier shipments from India are now subject to duty and clearance.

What do I need to import shawls into the US?

The importer of record needs a customs bond and a licensed customs broker. Ocean shipments also need an Importer Security Filing before loading. We send the commercial invoice, packing list and origin documents your broker needs.

What labels must shawls carry to be sold in the US?

FTC rules require fibre content by generic name and percentage, country of origin and the name or RN number of the responsible US company. We add these, plus care instructions and your branding, before shipping.

Can I sell shawls labelled as pashmina in the US?

Pashmina is not a recognised FTC fibre name, so the label must show the actual fibre, such as 70% wool and 30% silk, or 100% cashmere. You can still use pashmina in product names and descriptions alongside the correct fibre content.

What is the minimum order for US buyers?

Most ready styles start at 25 pieces. Kani weaves, custom designs and private label orders start at 100 pieces. The MOQ is shown on each product page.

How long does shipping from India to the US take?

Samples are dispatched in 5 to 7 days by DHL or FedEx. Sea freight to East Coast ports takes roughly 5 to 7 weeks port to port, and air freight takes a few days. Production takes 4 to 6 weeks on average.

When should I order for the holiday season?

Plan to have holiday stock in the US by early October. With sampling, production and sea freight, that means confirming orders by June.

Can you make private label scarves for my US brand or online store?

Yes. We add your woven labels, RN number, swing tags, UPC barcodes and packaging. Private label orders start at 100 pieces per design.

Which payment terms do you accept from US buyers?

New buyers pay 50% in advance and 50% before shipment. Letters of credit or extended terms are available for established buyers.
